The Best Android TV box is getting even better! (Final Beta annoucement)

We’re pleased to announce that we will be finished with our final Beta firmware for the G-Box Q by the end of the day. We have been striving to make the G-Box Q the best Android TV box solution available in the world. With the support and suggestions of our loyal customers, such as yourself, we have been able to improve the Q significantly, which has allowed us to continue to develop this product in accordance with the requests that many of you have been wishing for.

In the forefront of this Beta is the biggest network improvement to ever hit an Android set-top box through the latest available Ethernet and WiFi drivers and configuration tweaks. The G-Box Q now performs full throughput on Ethernet, which has been previously limited to approximately half-duplex efficiency. WiFi performance is better than it’s ever been with this new update. Latency has been reduced throughout the entire internal network configuration of the G-Box Q which results in faster loading times, higher throughput and faster buffering of media content. These updates have been long waiting, so this will come as great news to many of the G-Box Q power users that have been itching for the best performance possible from their hardware.

The Matricom update system has been going through an extreme overhaul. We have been developing and retrofitting our servers to begin cloud updating via the new HyperStream technology, which is Matricom’s new peer-to-peer solution for enhancing content availability across the world and is available only on G-Box products. This new update will be rolled out using this new HyperStream technology, which we expect to have a trial rollout starting this Friday, May 14th. The final rollout will be scheduled for next week, at which point we will be pushing the update once all known issues have been confirmed rectified in this Beta release. The servers will be coming online with HyperStream, providing fast and seamless updates. Utilizing HyperStream technology for our next update seems appropriate, as this will give us valuable feedback on the health of the HyperStream P2P network, ultimately leading to full utilization in the near future for media content delivery.

We will be announcing the Beta update in the forums later tomorrow with more information on the update, along with installation procedures for those that wish to opt into this Beta, which will be using the latest drivers for the G-Box Q network framework and implementing the next generation HyperStream technology into the updater. Thank you all for your valuable input and feedback, and for helping us make the G-Box the world’s #1 Android TV streaming device available in the world!
