Generic chinese Android MX TV boxes vs Authentic G-Box
By admin In Announcements, Set-Top BoxesThe hottest debate in Android set-top box technology these days boils down to the numerous options available on the market. With hundreds of fly-by-night companies coming along to attempt to capitalize on this incredible technology it can make it very confusing for the consumer to decide which product they should invest their hard-earned money into. Considering generic chinese android box companies name their devices so similarly to the Authentic Matricom G-Box is not only very confusing, but is also a strong hint as to what the best device is when making this decision.
As many of you already know, Matricom has been leading the Android set-top box industry for over three years since the release of their first XBMC geared device, the G-Box Midnight. This box was the first widely adopted Android set-top solution not only in the USA, but also the rest of the world as over 500,000 of these were sold within the first year it was released. A year later Matricom released the next and even more popular device, the G-Box Midnight MX2, a dual core Android and XBMC solution geared for users that demanded a faster, more powerful device. In a little over 6 months another 500,000 G-Box MX2 boxes were delivered to a growing base of G-Box enthusiasts. The heightening demand for G-Box was something that China couldn’t help but to pay attention to, as thousands of consumers and companies searching for the device turned to Chinese sourcing sites to inquire with companies to find better volume pricing so that they could themselves become a reseller. Since Matricom is a company located and developed in the USA, it is virtually impossible to find an authentic G-Box distributor in China, however this is something that most people had no knowledge of when they began their search for these highly popular devices.
As you can imagine, the large influx of inquiries for G-Box products to chinese companies inspired them to create their own devices named confusingly similar to G-Box, for instance the MX TV Box and MX3 and MX4, taking the original MX2 device name and creating what appears to be a superior model of the G-Box MX2. In reality, however, these devices are far from superior. In fact, these devices are not nearly the same device as the MX2, however the unsuspecting customer is easily confused into thinking that the device is authentic and must be a better version of the G-Box Mx2 which leads them to purchasing and ultimately dissapointment once the device doesn’t operate as it is expected to. These companies even go as far as rushing higher spec devices to market to release a product which, if was properly developed, could possibly be the next, more powerful G-Box. Unfortuantely for these companies, although the hardware platform is cutting edge, their design of the internal board and lack of software development makes for a faulty product.
A lot of hard and software development has been put into the G-Box which makes the device run properly. This development, which has been ongoing for over 3 years, is something every competing company lacks in their product. This goes, not only for the chinese companies producing these products, but also for the American companies that are purchasing these devices and putting their own company name and logos on them and presenting them to the world as their own. The reality of these generic devices is that they are all the same mock devices with a haphazardly developed firmware which was rushed by chinese developers in order to put a product to market as quickly as possible to monetize on the G-Box demand. While their intentions are like most companies, to make a profit, their execution for creating a useful product is not genuine which is clearly obvious once you start using the device for anything truly functional.
The price of these generic devices can be very attractive and is well warranted since these companies are using lesser expensive raw materials and are relying on this under developed software which runs the devices. The end result is a cheaper device which was created only in order to fool you, the consumer, into purchasing an inferior device in order to produce a profit for a shady chinese company. This is not the only time in history this has happened, of course. Most people are well aware that “everything is made in China” and that the chinese are very good at creating products that look similar to the products they’re mimicking.
Matricom is truly the pioneer for this type of set-top box technology. In fact, they were creating Android set-top solutions far before Google and Amazon even considered this sort of technology as useful. The wisdom and experience in this field is what makes Matricom products truly unique and the most supported, standard setting devices available in the world today. This is definitely worth considering when you’re making the choice between an authentic Matricom product any of the competing solutions available.
